Sumarie Woman: Angelina Jolie

As all Sumarie fans already know, Angelina Jolie is surely one of our favourite celebs, and definitely a Sumarie Woman! As the identikit shows, Angelina has all the features of the inspiring, confident and charismatic women that we want to represent, here at Sumarie.
Besides, what better time to talk about her than right now, a few weeks after her wedding with Brad Pitt? After a nine-year long relationship and a few kids, they finally said "I do" in their French chateau. In her Versace white gown, beautified by the drawing of her children, Angelina was
just breathtaking!

Sumarie Pop Up Store Review!

Last week lovely blogger and Vogue Editor Anne Marie reviewed the Sumarie Pop Up at Chic&Seek Boutique! Here's what she said:

Two more days and then off for the summer and I cannot wait! Luckily I was invited to a pop shop  for Sumarie Swimwear , I am not that keen on trying on swimwear who is after two  kids  and two C-sections but my swimwear definitely needs an update. It did help that the lovely Aime, was offering us mini manicures, I cannot tell you how good she is and she comes to your home an even bigger bonus, she also does the best organic spray tans, contact her on 07920887884 The lovely Marie is amazing and she exudes a real love for what she does and the quality of the workmanship and fabric is next to none. She has an online presence, but I would recommend visiting her shop in Portobello. Unit 12, Portobello Green Arcade, 281 Portobello Road W10 5TZ.  The cut of her bikini bottoms is really flattering the best I have tried on. All the pieces are mix and match and she can add lining if required.  I love that sporty edge and I am going to be wearing mine with a Chloe shirt and jumpsuit. Heading to her shop today to get my hands on the swimsuit in the featured image, it is divine.

New York Inspiration

Is there a better place than New York to look for some fashion-forward inspiration? Maybe, but certainly this wonderful and hectic city is one of Marie's favourite, our lovely boss.
Shapes, colours, food, people... Everything can be source of great ideas! After all, it's right here that the inspiration for one of the Femme Fatale SS14 bestsellers was born: Sumarie Chrysler Swimsuit.

Monica Bellucci: Sumarie Woman

Turning 50 and looking gorgeous. Monica Bellucci debuted in fashion in 1988, working for the Italian branch of Elite Model Management in Milan. Her typically Mediterranean beauty became soon famous, leading her to pose for world famous fashion magazines and haute couture brands. Despite the immediate success, shortly after Monica decided to put herself to the test and to chase her dream to become an actress. Ambitiously motivated to aim high, in the 90s and 2000s, she performed in several Hollywood movies and was nominated for a number of important awards.
In 1999 Monica married charming Vincent Cassel (even though they divorced last year…), moved to Paris and had two beautiful children. While pregnant, she posed for the Italian Vanity Fair in protest against Italian laws, that prevent the use of donor sperm.

Monica is currently new face of Dolce and Gabbana, looking more and more stunning as time goes by…
Her strength, talent and confidence make one of our favourite Sumarie women!

Sumarie Displays: The Showroom

People say a book shouldn't be judged by its cover. True. But it's also true that aesthetics shouldn't be neglected, and in fashion in particular, appearance tells A LOT.
Sumarie, as a high-end fashion brand, cares equally about the excellent quality of their products and the flawless image that conveys it. To celebrate the attention to detail, here's a flashback to the evolution of Sumarie's displays from the very beginning...

Conversation With Marie: Part Two

How It All Started

How did you start your career in fashion?
I wouldn’t say my story is very straightforward, it was a life journey. It started with a passion, that became a hobby, which then grew into so much more: it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.
In my twenties, I was trying to figure out the way to do it, where I wanted to work, what medium in fashion I wanted to take. Fashion to me is an artistic way of expressing myself; it’s not for the love of fashion just as clothes, it’s a form of art for me. I chose resort-wear, lifestyle and swimwear purely because they represented my favorite lifestyle, the one I like to live and I’m inspired by.

When did design your first bikini?
I’ve always designed and made bikinis myself from the age of 17 years old, it was the perfect hobby, although of course they weren’t perfect! I was just making them home with the domestic sewing machine:  you really cannot get something nice with that, but you know, that’s how I started. That’s how I trace it back when I wonder “why am I doing swimwear?”. It’s because I remember I loved doing that… I’ve always had lots of swimwear and beachwear, because I travel a lot and I lived in a beach country, on a beach, that was a different kind of experience.

That was Tel Aviv, right?

Yes! I would wake up, go to the beach, wear my bikini, my little shorts, a t-shirt, flip-flops and I would walk on the beach, do my sport, have a coffee with a friend. That’s how I used to start my day: that lifestyle, of course, is still in my heart, it’s something I want to go back to, at some point. Obviously London is a place where you have to be for professional reasons, if you want to be creative. At some point if you want to enter this crazy business, it doesn’t matter if it’s photography, fashion, art, you have to pass through Paris, London and New York. But ideally I’d like to live in Ibiza or somewhere like that, have a bit of a different lifestyle and be based in between. That’s exactly what I would want to do, have my own beach boutique in which I would be selling lifestyle pieces, including swimwear.

Fashion Rules!

If you’re passionate about fashion, you really can’t miss the exhibition “Fashion Rules”, now open at Kensington Palace.
Gorgeous dresses in five beautiful rooms will bring you back to the last century, with the wardrobes of HM Queen Elizabeth II in the 1950s, Princess Margaret in the 1960s and 70s and Diana, Princess of Wales in the 1980s. Moreover, thanks to a collection of film and photography that provide a feeling of those decades, the exhibition will make you discover how these great women influenced fashion by setting the rules of style in their times.

And if you’ve always had a thing for design, this is your chance to put yourself to the test and have a little fun! In fact, all visitors will be given an iPad featuring the award-winning app “Paper” that allows you to create fashion illustration inspired by the display of the Royal gowns.
