Fashion Rules!

If you’re passionate about fashion, you really can’t miss the exhibition “Fashion Rules”, now open at Kensington Palace.
Gorgeous dresses in five beautiful rooms will bring you back to the last century, with the wardrobes of HM Queen Elizabeth II in the 1950s, Princess Margaret in the 1960s and 70s and Diana, Princess of Wales in the 1980s. Moreover, thanks to a collection of film and photography that provide a feeling of those decades, the exhibition will make you discover how these great women influenced fashion by setting the rules of style in their times.

And if you’ve always had a thing for design, this is your chance to put yourself to the test and have a little fun! In fact, all visitors will be given an iPad featuring the award-winning app “Paper” that allows you to create fashion illustration inspired by the display of the Royal gowns.

Sumarie at Dolci Follie and Petits Bisous

Spring is slowly getting close and swimwear is finally taking over London's shops, including Sumarie SS14 and Classic Collection! Last week I paid a visit to two of our favourite stores: Dolci Follie in Notting Hill and Petits Bisous in South Kensigton, and I had the pleasure to find all the Sumarie pieces in the spotlight, beautifully hanged.
Check out the super-stylish mannequin Petits Bisous dedicated to Sumarie Jane Push Up Top and Belinda Bottoms!

You can find Sumarie on sale online by following these links http://dolcifollie.co.uk/ http://www.petitsbisous.com/

Healthy Food in London: Down to Earth

Making healthy lifestyle choices is not always easy in a busy city like London. But neglecting our health, hoping that those ready meals from the supermarket are good enough, may lead to unpleasant results in the long term…

Luckily, London doesn’t only bring us butterish flapjacks and saucy sandwiches.  More organic restaurants are popping up, offering healthy and delicious food for reasonable prices.

The Kensington cafe Down to Earth especially impressed us.  Its menu, highly focused on ethical and organic food, offers a wide range of vegan, vegetarian, wheat-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free food, embracing the needs of all who aim for a healthier lifestyle. Salt and sugar are kept to a minimum (including in the desserts!) and most of the dishes are made entirely of raw fruit and vegetables, to maintain their natural nutrients.  Trust us when we say this food is delicious.

The cafe also has small but well-supplied shop carrying fresh and essential cooking ingredients can be purchased, as well as high-quality organic beauty products. Down to Earth holds periodic seminars and workshops to educate customers on healthy living practices. We highly recommend checking out this cafe!

Made in London, Jewelry Now

Looking for something different and a little luxurious to do this weekend? The Museum of London is currently hosting an incredible exhibition of contemporary jewelry.
Seven highly talented London-based designers present their most inventive work, offering an insight into jewel crafting and imaginative processes.
The Museum of London’s Senior Fashion Curator, Beatrice Behlen, chose these artists for their ability to ‘create a unique identity and aesthetic’ and stand out in London’s hub of innovation.
No excuses: you have until the end of April to get some boundary-pushing, golden inspiration. Besides, the exhibition is free!

SUMARIE Haute Couture editoral shoot last week

here is a sneak peek from the fabulous SUMARIE Haute Couture editoral shoot last week. We loved working with the talented photographer Dean Avisar and the beautiful Lola Coca

Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore! and other exhibitions....

London is an amazing city, for its fashion scene obviously but also for creativity, cultural diversity that make all our industry this great adventure.
There is a few exhibition launching this month that will make you fall in love again with the cold, the smelly old pubs and the busy brunch on the week-end.
Here is our selection, go see one or two or all of them.. that sounds like inspiration to me !

1. Isabella Blow at Somerset House

Curated by Alistair O’Neill with Shonagh Marshall and designed by award-winning architectural firm Carmody Groarke, with installations by celebrated set designer Shona Heath, the exhibition will display thematically the breadth of Isabella’s collection, a life lived through clothes.
Somerset House, in partnership with the Isabella Blow Foundation and Central Saint Martins,
is proud to present Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!a major fashion exhibition

celebrating the extraordinary life and wardrobe of the late British patron of fashion and art.

20 November 2013 – 2 March 2014

2. Hello My name is Paul Smith at the
Design Museum

From the 15th November 2013 to 9th March 2014, London's Design Museum invites you into the world of fashion designer Paul Smith, a world of creation, inspiration, collaboration, wit and beauty. Looking to the future as well as celebrating his career to date, the exhibition will reference Paul Smith's influences and fashion designs, charting the rise of one of the world's leading fashion brands.

3. Exhibitions on Film: Bill Cunningham New York at Somerset House

Photographer Bill Cunningham has built a fifty-year career from shooting street-based portraits in New York. His eye is for fashion; his subjects range between high-profile glitterati and everyday trendsetters. Given his instinct for not just glamour but uniqueness of style, it was perhaps inevitable that he would come to photograph Isabella Blow in 1999.

4.Club to Catwalk London Fashion In the 80's at the V&A
Ah the 80's, this one has our heart!!

For a little bit more we follow their blog which is full of behind the scene explanation and a mine of inside from the 80's.

5. Only in England: Photographs by Tony Ray-Jones and Martin Parr at the science Museum
This exhibition shows work by two photographers fascinated by the eccentricities of English social customs.

6. The Glamour of Bellville Sassoon at Fashion and Textile Museum

The Fashion and Textile Museum, founded by 'princess of punk' Zandra Rhodes, is honouring the British couture label Bellville Sassoon. The women who wore Bellville Sasson, from Elizabeth Taylor to Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn, oozed celebrity and glamour, and this exhibit aims to focus on the clients of courture as well as the fashion itself. Highlights of the exhibition include sketches of gowns made for Princess Di with her inputs scrolled along the side. See snippets of British high fashion from the 50s with founder Belinda Bellville through to when David Sassoon and then Lorcan Mullany took over the design helm. It's bound to be an extravagent affair filled with little known tid-bits.

Marie-Antoinette and other fashion moments...

In the research of Sumarie woman, we had a look in french history...A few days agao marks the 220th anniversary of Marie Antoinette’s unfortunate demise. You know, when she lost her head back on October 16, 1793.

Of course, her memory continues to live on in the history books and pop culture, with her decadent style popping up everywhere from Thom Browne shows to Madonna to Coca-Cola. So, to commemorate Marie Antoinette’s legacy and fashion influence, we’ve choosen up few of the most decadent editorial spreads, advertisements, and costumes—including those anachronistic pastel Converse Chucks from Sofia Coppola’s 2006 movie.

Kirsten Dunst poses as Sofia Coppola’s version of Marie Antoinette for Vogue‘s September 2006 issue, shot by Annie Leibovitz.

Cara Delevingne channels Marie Antoinette for Chanel’s Resort 2013 campaign.
Wildfox Spring 2011 Look Book “Vive La France.”
“För Sverige i Tiden” shot by Jimmy Backius for Elle Sweden’s August 2008 issue.
